Lol! Yes indeed. I have skinned, bruised and cut my knuckles just getting the new SS heatshield on!

And yes it’s something like 18 years..... :o
I remember chatting to Dave Howarth back then about PSO69W - a right hand drive conversion commanding approx £30k at the time if I remember correctly.

Yes and PSO had a few issues. I don't know which steering rack was used, but it had more lock one way than the other!

Having said that, I think it was the car Dave drove most often.

Looking at its MOT history, she’s still on the road with an MOT until July 2018.
Last recorded mileage just over 16,000 miles....

Wiring commenced today!!

Dad took the lead on this one. Fortunately there was enough wire on the original loom to reconnect everything which was brilliant news.

Great photos.
2 things :-
Ask your Dad what pot of flux is he using for his soldering
.... did you keep the top bracket - mine looks like a Farm Gate hinge!!

I want to make one and could use your broken one as a template?

Cheers

Hi Kevin,

The flux? I shall ask him when I see him next. Any reason?

And yes, I’ve kept the old hanger. You’re welcome to use it as a template.
(But I’d like to keep it for posterity Smile )

Cheers
Tris

And best of luck with getting her running.

Shepard Chevrolet were indeed an original dealer, in Lake Bluff IL so it is entirely possible that is where the car was sold.

The car was in Chicago, Illinois up to 15,000 miles according to the VIN list on the DeLorean registry (before I updated with my details) - so I think it could well be the supplying dealer.
(She’s now on 15,500)

Unfortunately they are unable to find/give out any info, I have asked.

Cheers Tris.
I have done just a couple of soldering jobs on mine and 36 years of oxidisation makes it a tough task.
I have a great assortment of soldering irons that I have used in my leaded glass work and others for fine guitar soldering.
I used to used bakers fluid but I've run out of that - I only have amber and rosin left but that's more suited to lead work.
In the scheme of things I won't be wanting to make a bracket for some time so there is no sweat - hopefully one day we'll meet up and we can sort it then - as long as you keep it, that's the main thing.
Yeah, start up #2 this week end.

Makes me wish I'd had the money to get a really good turn key - but at least I know that after all the work I've done on it, it should last a whole lot longer.
