time to coax Flopsy back into life
#16
photos from this morning - whole job took about an hour including removing the
exhaust! I think, the pulley nut being off twice in the last 10yrs was a help though.

Sadly the exhaust heat shield I bought new last year fell to pieces as soon as the
retaining bolts were taken out, so I'm gonna have to find a new one of those, and
one that is made a bit better.

#2292 over the steps, which make an excellent service area Wink

Hopefully we'll catch up with RichH over the weekend, so that he can get the
offending article off to the engineering place to have a new one made - who knows,
we could have the car back together again within a couple of weeks, then, oh joy,
the MOT.... lol

not gonna get a new pulley made, lets just say it was about as expensive as getting
one from the USA, but luckilly we have sourced a used one - we just need to remove
it from the engine it is currently attached to and cross the owners palms with currency Wink

Once the pulley and exhaust are back on the car, I'll get the new back tyres fitted, and
then I'll give the car a tune up and then go and see the MOT man........

HUGE thanks to Chrispy for helping us out this afternoon and supplying us with the
much needed crank pulley for #2292 - and thanks also to RichH for an extra pair
of muscles getting it off the engine it was affixed to.

Whilst its sad to see 'Parnham Palace' being prepared for sale, knowing how much
Chris put into buying, designing and building the place, we did get a tour of the new
'Parnham Cottage', which will be something quite special when its finished in a few
months time.

Phill's just going outside now to fit the new pulley, photos to follow! Big Grin

New pulley in place!

Happy to say, that the engine is now all back together, everything is connected back
up, and the car runs absolutely fine, and there is no longer a visible 'wobble' on the
pulley.

Next jobs, are to get new rear tyres fitted, give the car a quick tune up, fit new
Bluetooth stereo, and then its off to the MOT station! I'll tax the car from the 1st
June, that way I can use it right up until the end of November Smile

Good stuff Claire. Glad you got the pulley sorted.

Chrispy garage is cool. I had a tour when I picked up a used exhaust for LJH..

I remember his place before that. Turns out I lived a couple of streets over from him when I was at Derby Uni in the early 90's.

Always a good feeling when you get the pass slip Smile

What tyres did you go for btw? General Grabbers, or did you drop down to 225's?

225's in the end, Phill and RichH have been on them for a few years with no probs, plus
they are easier to find.

My Pirellis had been on since 2006, so I'd had 6yrs out of them and they were pretty worn
and wouldnt have passed the MOT.
