Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Guinney1971 - 09 Jun 2009 lol - well I enjoyed Series 2 - and apparantly Series 3 is now going ahead too! ![]() Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - mikesumner - 09 Jun 2009 Yeah, series 2 was a definite improvement on series 1 I thought (especially in the quality of the acting). I couldn't help but notice in the final episode last night though (and I do hope I'm not the only person to have spotted this otherwise I must be very sad), but there was a shot in which a blue Transit pulled out of a yard while being watched by Ray Carling in a Granada, only for an "N" reg (1996) Rover to be parked at the side of the road in full view. I'm not sure if this was a ludicrous mistake or some sort of competition for people to Email in about lol. Sometimes I curse being really observant lol. Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Guinney1971 - 10 Jun 2009 Mike, you total nerd!! lol - although I did spot that Ray Carling's Granada had the sporty bodykit and 2.8i badges on it - but it was on V plates - I thought the sporty 2.8i's came out a bit later. Anyway - did you spot the Talbot Alpine (dark blue) in one of the shots? Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - mikesumner - 10 Jun 2009 Claire Usher Wrote:Mike, you total nerd!! lol - although I did spot that Ray Carling's Granada had the sporty I know, I annoy myself sometimes at some of things I spot. In fairness though, they shouldn't have made the gaff in the first place. A '96 car in an '82 programme is a fairly big mistake. I did see the Alpine yeah. I think it was just before they went into that chippy that the rear could be seen, and then the front once they went inside. It looked very familiar in blue as I'm spent many a Sunday staring at that while trying to loosen spark plugs lol. Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Rich Hanlon - 11 Jun 2009 Claire Usher Wrote:oh yes Mr Hanlon, what piece of British Leyland's finest have you got your beadies on now? We-ell - it wasn't actually BL this time, this one originated across the channel, but I've just had the news that its been sold. It was this beaut... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C90842/ Bugger. Had my flight booked and everything... And the ferry back - We've been emailing each other since mid May too!! (PS - Many congrats to you and Phill by the way, have just spent the last hour on the forum and have spotted your 'news' for the first time!) Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Guinney1971 - 12 Jun 2009 Cheers Rich - and a Renault 15!!!!!!!!!! You obviously know how rare the 15 and 17 Coupe's are in the UK - one of those has been on my wish list for years - if you'd have got that, I'd have been camping on your doorstep! lol Thanks for the kind words too - we've got RichH and Malc & Gaye coming over tomorrow if you and Roisin want to pop over for a beer and some snap in the evening? Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Rich Hanlon - 12 Jun 2009 I know, awesome looking things, and like chicken's teeth too! re. Invite - thanks very much! Unfortunately both we and the D are away in the welsh Wales this weekend! Long standing arrangement with some pals, there's about ten of us hiring a cottage for a weekend. Yeah, great shame about the car, it was a real beaut, I feel proper cheated out of it. I've managed to get a refund from Stena line but aren#'t even going to try with Ryanair!! We were all agreed then some guy turned up out of the blue wavig cash under the vendor's nose and he sold it to him... There is still a 17 available but its an Auto and is another £2k more than the 15. I already have an Automatic D and while the sale of the Maxi would have made a reasonable proportion of the value of the 15, the 17 would be much more of a stretch. So - have decided to concentrate on the D and sort its last few niggles for a while. There's plenty of 15's and 17's available in France though: http://www.leboncoin.fr/li?q=renault+15 ... A75001&fu= - Amongst other places... Also "r15r17" and a few others.... C'est la vie... Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Guinney1971 - 13 Jun 2009 ah, what a 'derrier' that was - like you say, not even worth bothering getting money out of Ryanair tho, you'd have more luck getting the proverbial claret out of a rock  Good luck hunting down a R15, I know from my time as a Committee Member of the Renault Owners Club 15's and 17's are mega rare in the UK, with, IIRC, numbers in the teens (if that) registered with DVLA in Swansea. No probs about this weekend, I remember you saying on the phone the other week that you're pretty much booked up all summer!! lol  Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Guinney1971 - 16 Jun 2009 Rich - Phill has just emailed you a Renault 17 - and a right minter too - that he's found for sale. Bagsy first go in it tho!! Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Nick H - 19 Jun 2009 I enjoyed this series. Looking forward to Series 3. I think Alex needs her own motor for the next series. Has to be a Escort MK III XR3i Cabriolet in the Makepeace style  . Nick Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - mikesumner - 23 Jun 2009 Nick H Wrote:I enjoyed this series. Looking forward to Series 3. Absolutely. It made sense in Life On Mars for everyone to cram into a mkIII Cortina, but now that it's the 80s there should be the inclusion of a car for Alex to knock about in. No doubt this could result in some good action with both her and Gene chasing someone at the same time. Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Guinney1971 - 23 Jun 2009 good idea ![]() If not a 'Princess Diana-esque' Mk3 Escort Cabby, then mebbe a Fiesta XR2 or MK2 Golf GTi? I think the Golf will be much more 'Bolly' then a Ford tho tbh ![]() Rich Hanlon - when you picking that R17 up mate? Just need to know when to set up camp on your doorstep  Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Rich Hanlon - 23 Jun 2009 Next Tuesday night I think, all being well - unfortunately his and my availability don't coincide until then!!! In the meantime I'm champing the bit here!!!! It's a minter, you'll love it! Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - Guinney1971 - 23 Jun 2009 Rich Hanlon Wrote:Next Tuesday night I think, all being well - unfortunately his and my availability don't coincide until then!!! oh kewl!!!!!!!! cant wait to see it! ![]() Haha, I sound more excited about the car then you!! lol Re: "Ashes To Ashes" - lawrencew - 01 Jul 2009 mikesumner Wrote:It's a pity I don't have the contacts to inform those that matter of my 1981 Talbot Solara as they are clearly struggling to find cars from that era in the right sort of condition. I'm aiming on having a solution to this in the next few weeks, if anyone is willing to help me out. I'll provide some more details soon. Classic car lover, Lawrence ![]() |
