Complete legend Glen for getting him smiling, its not gonna be an easy few weeks but im sure we'll all get him and Catherine through the worse! All the best to the two (3) of them! ![]() - Glen & Sam - 10 May 2008 hi all we have set up the ![]() ![]() but the bad thing is if he manages to keep you on the phone for 5 mins then he gets a hour free tv from his bed    birksie bed line 07040322884 ( updated 12/5/08 ) - Birksie - 10 May 2008 Wow. Thanks for the support everyone. Its been a real bummer of a week after Fridays accident. As most of you know I test metals in my job at a local scrapyard. A skip waggon had tipped a skip load of mixed steel turnings for me to check. An grab machine was quite a distance from me at this time as i began to check them. My boss asked me what they were, so I told him. He then asked for a metalurgical analysis and average over the entire load, and i replied "no problem". I began to test, and write each analysis down. I managed only a few more when i was pushed from behind. Thinking it was someone pushing me, I spun round only to be face to face with tracks from a grab loader. I screamed "STOP" as it pushed me against the turnings. Then for a second he stopped. I cried out again "STOP, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MOVE FORWARD". I was in agony. Just as i had said that he started to REVERSE again as I carried on screaming. At that point, I thought it was all over (you cant imagine all the images that fill your mind in such a short space of time). Luckily at that point I saw someone across the yard who came running forward telling the grab driver to stop and go forward. He did so, and i fell to the floor screaming like a little girl. The paramedice were there in aroun 3.5 mins! And pumped me full of morphine on the way to the hospital. ![]() This is what ran over my leg..... I`ll continue this later when im not as drugged up....need sleep  - Dan Howarth - 11 May 2008 Oh my god Paul. Ican't imagine how scared you must have been. I drive a machine like this from time to time and know that its sometimes difficult to see where you're going but thats why you have a banksman. If you want, i know a guy who can ''speak'' with the driver of said 360 grab for you to express you're displeasure. Get better soon mate. - JohnC - 11 May 2008 Paul. Very sorry to hear about your accident. Get well soon! John C DOC 19/19a : 'Boeing' : #0737 - dmckelv12 - 11 May 2008 Hi Paul, i can only echo what everyone has said, so get well soon matey!!!! - Guinney1971 - 11 May 2008 Tragic news Paul, but I know you'll pull through. Take it easy mate, love to you and Catherine (and the new arrival when he/she arrives). Claire & Phill xxx - NickT - 12 May 2008 Glen & Sam Wrote:hi all Tried that number, but unfortunately it doesn't work. NickT - Birksie - 12 May 2008 07040 322 884 Nick ! Thanks for the get well wishes everyone. I feel better already ![]() Well, ive had plent of time in hospital already, plenty of drugs and more than enough operations. It looks like I should make a "good" recovery. Leaving some distortion, swelling and scarring to my foot. But at least the surgeon didnt throw my foot in the bin (like he was going to do!). Im just worried about numbness. I can do without more lack of sensation as it is. I really dont want to be fitting disabled controls to my D ![]() Thanks again everyone, and ill pass the well wishes onto Catherine and (5 weeks to go) baby Heidi ![]() - Guinney1971 - 12 May 2008 Hey Paul, want the number of 'Claims Direct' I wouldnt recommend my solicitor (still sorting out the accident I had in Jan 2007) - frickin useless  Glad to hear that the outcome is looking good so soon after your accident, we're all thinking of you mate ![]() - The Hoopers - 12 May 2008 What a traumatic experience for yourself and of course for Catherine too, but delighted that all seems to be going OK. We wish you a speedy recovery, hopefully in time for the birth of your baby. Love Mary and Michael - Birksie - 13 May 2008 Thanks Mary. ![]() Hi Claire. I would try Claims Direct, but my finacial advisor told me to stay away from all of the companys you see advertised on TV, so I am. Besides, I really need a good industrial claims expert on this one. Someone who is familiar working in this feild. - Guinney1971 - 13 May 2008 lol - no worries - I think CD went bust didnt they? Were they the ones that sacked all their employees by text message? I would have thought, if the guy that ran over you wasnt being properly supervised, then the Health and Safety Executive may well want to get involved. Like you say tho, the incident you were involved in is a bit more specialised then tripping over a paving slab or having a car accident, but I'm sure your Financial Advisor will be able to put you in touch with someone who can sort out that side of things for you. Anyways, you just concentrate on getting better and looking after that new baby of yours when she arrives ![]() BTW, what Hospital are you in? I've got to go back into Barnsley General Hospital again next week for more work on my shoulder ![]() and say hello on the way back if you like? Take it easy dude  - Birksie - 14 May 2008 Yeah, that would be cool. Im in Sheffields Northern General Hospital. Huntsman6 Ward D ![]() - Carl Hammond - 14 May 2008 My god Paul, what a horrific ordeal you've been through mate. ![]() It's really good to hear that you're making a steady recovery though. Best wishes to Catherine and hope all goes well with baby Heidi. Take care of yourself and get well soon matey. ![]() Kind regards Carl & Alex |
